Diversity in Design Placement Program

Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. We believe and are determined that all students regardless of their race, ethnic background, religion, or gender, should all have equal opportunity to be supported in the design industry. It promotes individual freedom, empowerment and yields important development benefits that take action to overcome barriers.

This program is dedicated to support 100 high achieving students in low income areas, providing them with “real world” education. They will receive a full scholarship to Design Mecca EDU and explore museums, furniture textiles showrooms, and meet top design professionals. Each student after the completion of the curriculum is allowed to enter their best design board and a chance to win at the annual awards gala. The top 3 finalist are chosen based on their creativity, thoughtfulness, presentation and talent. This invaluable opportunity in design is geared to inspire the youth with creative and entrepreneurial skills to enter into the world of design.

The Diversity in Design Scholarship program is open to high school students or anyone considering a career in the design industry.

While, presentation can be everything…when you’re interested in interior design, textile design, graphic design or any other type of design, don’t let anyone fool you into thinking looks don’t matter. Sometimes they do and if you’re a design student, they matter most of the time. And while affording an education may feel like an insurmountable problem, it doesn’t have to be one.

This scholarship fund has been created with design students in mind, students will be awarded on the basis of academic accomplishment, creative achievement, and career goal essay.
